I think we are all looking forward to this long Independence Day celebration weekend, so we can relax….

If you are in Los Angeles, I suggest dropping by chef José Andrés’s restaurant The Bazaar at SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills, and sip an Ln2 Caipirinha. Besides drinking it, you will also enjoy its production. There’s a little show produced by the liquid nitrogen poured on the Brazilian cachaca and fresh lime.

I have to be honest: Towne Food & Drink restaurant owner Armen Shirvanian came up with the idea for this picture, not me. I think it was a good idea, as well as his restaurant. When I first saw it, I wondered why chef Ryan Morrison’s teeth were green. If you look closer, you will see that he is holding a house-made macaron from pastry chef Tamara Davis.

Chef Joseph Antonishek has done a great culinary job in this funky place. The restaurant has earned a spot on GAYOT.com’s list of Top 10 New & Notable Los Angeles Restaurants as well as the newly created Top 10 Happy Hour round-up.

Last time I had dinner at Picca, one of GAYOT’s 2012 Top New Restaurants, I did not go to the kitchen, but instead headed behind the bar. I wanted to know many different brands of pisco — the national drink of Peru — bartender Mark Grubb had there to create his ten house-made pisco cocktails. The answer is: 42!
