Bruno Serato with Sophie Gayot

Last year when I saw the clip on CNN of chef Bruno Serato for his CNN Heroes nomination, I rushed to the restaurant, the Anaheim White House in Orange County, CA, to interview the philanthropic chef and see how I could help with his foundation Caterina’s Club.

So here I am now doing a GAYOT Dinner Series with him at the restaurant on April 26th to benefit the organization. Go to’s blog to find out all the details.

Vinnie Malcolm, owner of The Shave of Beverly Hills with Sophie Gayot

Last week, I made it to the men’s paradise The Shave of Beverly Hills. I did not get to shave the owner Vinnie Malcolm, nor got a treatment: the boutique only offer services for men in an old America atmosphere, (shave, hair cuts and facials).

The only thing women can do is to buy presents for their men, which include hats from London. We are not even allowed to enter the second room of the store where men relax while being taken care of by licensed practitioners. The evening I went it was to listen to young R&B singer Tommy Johnson. Thanks Tommy, as I was able to get a full tour of the shoppe.

Maestro Cortador Paco Carrasco,, Saul Sola, VP Sales/Marketing 5J with Sophie Gayot

Last night when I went to Fig &Olive Melrose Place to celebrate their first anniversary, we were greeted with ham. A few words of Spanish and I was able to get more of the 100% pure breed Iberico de Bellota brought to us by the company 5J, and cut by “maestro cortador” Paco Carrasco. Hmmm, that was good (of course, it is one of the best cured ham in the world)….

Chef Pascal Lorange prepared a special menu for the occasion. See the pictures below.
