With Gail Simmons about her book “Talking With My Mouth Full”

I don’t know where Oscar winner Jean Dujardin had dinner last night, but if he tried to dine at at Jordan Kahn’s restaurant Red Medicine in Beverly Hills, even he would have been turned away. Gail Simmons had the entire place to herself to launch her new book. Since it’s titled “Talking With My Mouth Full”, the silent movie star may not have been interested.

The restaurant was packed to see the “Top Chef” judge in the flesh. As Red Boat Fish Sauce helped making the evening possible, Kahn, one of GAYOT.com’s 2011 Top 5 Rising Chefs in the US, used the sauce in preparing the appetizers, including pork chaud froid and 36 hour braised beef brisket wrapped in charred lettuce topped with lettuce stems. Mixologist Adrian Biggs created two drinks for the occasion; my favorite was the “Red Sapphire” made of Bombay Sapphire, raspberry syrup, Earl Grey syrup and maraschino liqueur topped with a mint leaf.
