A British chef’s photo on a French monument? I captured this only-in-Vegas moment by striking his signature pose. I hope you are ok with this Gordon… (At Paris Las Vegas, for the opening of Gordon Ramsay Steak.)

Last time I had dinner at Picca, one of GAYOT’s 2012 Top New Restaurants, I did not go to the kitchen, but instead headed behind the bar. I wanted to know many different brands of pisco — the national drink of Peru — bartender Mark Grubb had there to create his ten house-made pisco cocktails. The answer is: 42!
On my way to the Johnny Hallyday opening night of his world tour at The Orpheum theater downtown Los Angeles, I stopped at Mercato di Vetro for what has now become a classic cocktail there: the truffle salt margarita.
Both chef de cuisine Chris Crary and I did not do it on perhaps to be color coordinated for that picture taken after dinner at Whist at the Viceroy Santa Monica: in grey and white in front of the outdoor grey and white wall of china of the restaurant.
Many of us in the Los Angeles area are familiar with the voice of radio host Frank Mottek who is in charge of the business news at KNX 1070 News Radio, a CBS affiliate. Now you can see what he really looks like!
You can listen to him during his stock market updates, and from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday when he hosts the “KNX Business Hour.” I was a guest on his show last week talking about the Los Angeles winners named in the GAYOT.com 2012 Restaurant Issue.
