French rocker Johnny Hallyday started his last world tour last night at The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. It was symbolic to him to start here, as Johnny got very, very sick in Los Angeles two years ago, and had to cancel a tour in France.

This picture with actor Jérémie Rénier was taken just before I was going to see the movie “Cloclo”, My Way, at the 2012 edition of COLCOA, the French Film Festival in Los Angeles. I was about to discover a superb performance by Rénier reincarnating French singer Claude François on the screen.

Last year when I saw the clip on CNN of chef Bruno Serato for his CNN Heroes nomination, I rushed to the restaurant, the Anaheim White House in Orange County, CA, to interview the philanthropic chef and see how I could help with his foundation Caterina’s Club.

Where a better place to celebrate “Windy City West” in Los Angeles than at two of Chicago-based Lettuce Entertain You’s restaurants Stella Rossa Pizza Bar and M Street Kitchen — the two spots are next to each other on Main street in Santa Monica. The pizzas, created by chef Jeff Mahin, at Stella Rossa Pizza Bar are so good that the restaurant is on GAYOT.com Top 10 Pizza Restaurants in the US.

Yesterday was Oscar day. Even though, the biggest night in Hollywood had not yet started, I decided to celebrate the winners while cruising on the Pacific Ocean.
There was only one way to do it for me: sabraging a bottle of Champagne with a backdrop that was worthy of the stars walking the red carpet. Yury Scheffler, the Russian vodka tycoon (Stolichnaya and Moskovskaya, among others), made it easy for me: his 134-meters (440-foot) yacht, Serene, was anchored in Santa Monica Bay.
